Spaceport America Mile for discussion.
Hey Everyone,
I was given the go ahead today to use the 12,000 foot runway at Spaceport America in New Mexico to run a Texas Mile type speed run event. The 12,000 foot long, 200 foot wide runway is new, smooth and provides plenty of room for braking.
We are still working out costs for the fire protection, insurance and facility rental. The Spaceport was built for the Virgin Galactic sub orbital tourist business that is presently stalled for a little, uh, redesign. There is sufficient area for lots of 48 footers and motor homes. It is in the middle of no where! I ran the runway yesterday and it is awesome.
Let me know if any of you are interested and I will keep you posted.
Thanks
Randy

You may want to consider partnering with the guys from ShiftSector (Jason Huang) as they have been running these events for a number of years at several facilities (Colinga, Pikes Peak, Oregon, etc.) and seem to have it down.
Cheers,
