Sadly my wife and I got into F1 in 2014 when the new engines came out. I didn't know that was happening and we were "where's the engine noise?". Now we are used to it but would much rather see the high revving V8's back.

FIA is just pricing everyone out of the game. They've got Formula E now so there's your ECO race. Put the V8 back in!

Bernie also thinks democracy is a waste of time.

I wonder whether Bernie thinks he can take away Mercedes' advantage by resetting everyone to a new engine spec.

He's just stirring the pot like he always does. It's quite predictable at this stage and every time it's done to put certain people on notice.

There is no going back to NA V8s. No way, no how. A little known fact is that some of these new power units are past 45% thermal efficiency at this point and are getting close to 50%. Think about that for a second and then figure out a way to go back to a V8. Never gonna happen.

Reliability is also an issue. People dropping out of the race due to problems in propulsion sub-units that you didn't even want in the first place are bad for business.

I assume he means v8s without any of the hybrid stuff, right? That's quite a bit of a simplification. I can't see how that would (long term) hurt the smaller teams.

That, or maybe he is just one and only about keeping Red Bull in, and he knows Mercedes won't quit now.
