Aluminum all the way... I have an Optima 28' Tag.. Could live in it with all the goodies..

If I were to replace it I'd look at Intech. Awesome.

If you need super light and are going to tow with light weight vehicles, then Trailex. To me they are awesome, but really a enclosed open trailer, which is fine.

Intech, ATC, Optima: Are haulers (which are large) and are more a place to put your car and so much more...

I'd keep the open if you can. Kept mine use it to take car to the shop, hauling the tractor, firewood runs, mulch for the Mrs, etc.
even moved my house with it-- movers 18 wheeler couldn't get up my street so we shuttled everything via open trailer

+1 to this.

I sold my open trailer when I got my enclosed and wish I had kept it for short runs and stuff to do with the house.

Look at Racingjunk.com I have bought several from there that were used. Also great ads to find new trailer manufacturers and dealers. Buy the longest trailer you can. You will find very quickly how to fill it up...

What does your basic (pictured) enclosed trailer sell for?

Yep.. actually i'm curious what a standard base would cost (open trailer with solid floor) and if it could be sent back at a later date to be enclosed and what those approximate costs would be? The open nose is cool but don't see the necessity if it adds a lot of cost.

From the looks of those pics it appears to be 78" wide on the inside. Measure your car width, including mirrors, to see if you have room to get to the front for tie down.

Depending on your town vehicle you may want to consider a load leveling hitch. The best of the best is the stab-i-lizer hitch which also acts as sway control.

Enclosed trailer, plus the load leveling hitch, were a great decision.

Wow!
Assuming there's a wet bar in there somewhere?

No wet bar yet but I did add a microwave since that picture was taken. For $50 from Costco why wouldn't you have a microwave is what I thought to myself.

Totally OT.

Trailex offered me a special of covering 1/2 shipping charges. Once I got a quote from u-ship and asked Trailex for their quote I found out that they were almost double the u-ship quote. I mentioned paying half of u-ship and they quit talking to me.

Moral of the story: not all shipping quotes are equal!

The guys at Factory Five just said they are going to announce details of aluminum trailers they are about to launch, after years of going through trailers from other builders for years and finally getting to the point where they wanted to build their own.

That should be interesting.

I have been looking as well at enclosed trailers as well, in the 20-24' range. I really like the Intech trailers and saw that last month they launched a new lite series line of 20', 24' and 28'. They limited the number of options you can pick and they seem to be of great value option.

My question is related to tow vehicle. I am moving from a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel, max tow 6800lbs to a 2016 Ram 1500 Diesel max tow of 8400lbs. I am wondering if it is a wise idea to look at 24' trailers. Ideally I would get a 20'/22' alum with 5K axles.
