It's great to see Porsche turning out some special edition performance models like they used to. Granted, it used to be for homologation and now it's for profit, but still great for us.

GT3 powered manual only 911 R ?
The report I read said it was sold out, yet I've never heard of it including on here. So, is this like a buy a 918 get one of these allocated type thing?

R's were very lightweight vehicles with fiberglass panels, plexiglass windows, plastic door hands little or no sound proofing - there's no way Porsche would be able to supply such a vehicle into US for road use ... lets not forget there is the GT3R already. As previously mentioned MrP said no manual with GT3. So I can only concluded this, if there is any truth to its existence, will be a marketing vehicle rather then what is being hyped - time will tell....

Wouldn't it just be easier to provide a GT3 with the option of Manual or PDK instead of a whole new model?

The original R's were built for race homologation, that's why they are special. This is just another way to cash in on rich guys with one more overpriced "limited edition". I find it hard to get excited about exclusive cars that are destined for a life of collecting dust.
I'm sure they'll make a bunch of money on it too, so it's hard to blame them. Porsche is by far the best car company at cashing in on nostalgia and motorsports history. Remember those Cayenne ads featuring the RS spider?

Sooooo, let me get this straight. Porsche says there is a public demand for a manual gearbox in a 911 with GT3 power but they only produce 600 units worldwide? That are already sold out and the public can't get their hands on?
Don't **** in the wind and then tell me it's raining, please.
