They claimed that it was impossible to safely cage the cars.

So now, they've caged them themselves and say that they are safe. But given how the 991 Cups get tubbed all the time, I suspect that will be the case with these Caymans too in a hard hit.
No secret that the new aluminum body porsches do not repair easy like the old porsches.
Will be interesting to see where replacement tubs price out.

$150K is too much. THink of all the cost savings selling a race car vs a street car - warrantee, DOT and EPA testing, other homologation issues, sound system, interior, windows, HVAC, dealer support, etc.

They COULD sell it for under $100K but Porsche does not do that sort of thing. They like to make money up front and all the time the car is raced

They certainly know what is profitable.

They also know what it cost us privateers to buy a street car and convert it to a race car which gives them a great base line for setting their price point hook, line and sinker!

They will undoubted sell every last one.
Alot of us will have to wait for them to hit the used market if we want a premium priced entry level factory track car.

The theoretical Sebring time will depend heavily on tire width and aero.

If narrow tires like on 996 cup cars no way a 2:12 by a pca racer. Maybe a high 13. Hod rod 996 cups would do well to see a 13. And that's a car that's 200 lbs lighter And 50 more hp.

It will be exciting to see a performance comparison between the factory cars and the street car based club cars.

Cheers,

I think the 2 year 12 race PCA commitment may thin the herd substantially.

Latest number I'm hearing is $120k for car +$20k for spares package. That's bang in-line with the EUR105k number quoted.

That's more like it. I'm still more inclined on getting it for VLN in 16 and then bring it home after 1 year.

This development, one might think, would cause shop built GTB cars to tumble in price, no?

I doubt it. Supply and demand...
