I'm picking up a new Trailex CTE in a couple weeks...would like to know how you have customized yours. I'm building the base shoe box version, no extra height in order to fit in my garage.

I have tire rack, power winch with recharging through the towing vehicle and wireless remote, nitrogen tank rack, and rack for hanging tie down straps. I also have the storage box on the right side but not as important as the rest I listed. Definitely get the stuff I have. Makes a big difference.

I have everything stu mentioned but looking for a larger trailer now..
Still a great little pkg for the weekend track guy.
Frank p's got it going on. Some great space planning. Keep in mind he may have a little more room hauling a cayman and is using every cubic inch. 996/997 will take up more space..

The biggest issue is actually getting the tongue weight right. It would be easier with a 911 than with a Cayman.

Frank, do you know how much your fully loaded trailer weighs?

I'm surprised the Cayman would pose a greater tongue weight challenge. Good to know. I don't think we can use any weight distribution packages (e.g. Reese Strait Line) with the Trailex, right?

I may be mistaken, but I believe these Trailex trailers were originally designed for the 911. Trailex does not reposition the axles if you tell them you've got a Cayman.
No, I do not believe you can use a weight distributing hitch with a Trailex trailer.

The reason the Cayman presents more of a challenge is because it's mid-engined. Most of the additional weight in a trailer ends up in the front because that's where the empty space is located. You want to move the car back to offset this weight but there is only so far back you can go before the car is hitting the rear door. A 911 in the same position, by comparison, would have more weight at the back thus reducing tongue weight.

As you said, there are no weight distributing hitches allowed - frankly, if you monitor and manage your tongue weight you don't need them.

Picked up the new Trailex last weekend...933 miles one-way via Springfield, MO to purchase a new-to-me GT3, left it with the dealer to pick up 6am Sunday morning and then on to Canfield, OH for the Trailex. My nephew made the 48-hour journey with me, we had a great time along the way. 5am mornings, 11pm nights. We left NWA to Jerry Reed's "East Bound and Down". Apropos for the journey.
Thrilled with the trailer, really thrilled. Carl @ Trailex was a pleasure to deal with. Equally thrilled with the new Frog. I appreciate all the info offered, looking forward to fitting out the trailer...
