Thompson Speedway track notes
Thinking of heading to Thompson for the first time. Does anyone have track notes/turn-by-turn or good video.
Thanks

Pretty good lap!
A 1:14 in the Sports 2000 car is really fun, but the F2000 Zetec cars are in the :08's and the Atlantics are at 1:01-1:02!

Instructor
Here are my track notes from last year's DE. I hope it helps. I'm no expert driver, so if anyone wants to challenge or augment, feel free. I drive a mostly stock 95 carrera 2.
Enter track staying right all the way to turn 1
Turn 1
Brake hard around 5 sign, get all braking done in uphill section as you lose grip where it flattens. Downshift to 3rd
Trail brake a bit trying to carry as much speed as possible in the turn
Accelerate staying to the left to the end of the concrete turtle, flat out through turn 2
Only track out from turn 2 to about half track
Brake for turn 3 then early apex carrying quite a bit of speed, there's plenty of track out room
One instructor said to only track out to mid track here, but it doesn't seem to reward momentum cars
Brake in a straight line for turn 4 (the clubhouse) all the way to the cross in the pavement where the 2 asphalts meet, start a smooth turn in then yank the wheel to rotate the car, aiming for the apex cone
Brake for turn 5 and stay about 2/3 to the left keeping maintenance throttle, this is a very late apex turn.
As the track rejoins the nascar oval, the turn becomes off camber and pushes the car towards the grass. Apex is in fact further than the cone where the two pavements meet, gun it for the straight once you see the apex and track out
Keep straight along the left side and aim for the 3rd cone from the left brake in a straight line
Trail brake slightly and turn in a smooth line towards the late apex. Slow in fast out works best here.
Don't track out all the way to the wall. Stay mid track and move slightly to the right for the esses (8 and 9). You can aim for the blue bathrooms
Brake in a straight line and start maintenance throttle for the esses (another option is to break later as you start the turn in.
Stay well outside to prepare for turn 8 and don't track out, keep left to prepare for turn 9. Turn 9 comes quickly after 8 and should be thought of as a combination left/right. Don't early apex turn 9.
Stay to the left to setup for turn 10, slight lift (no braking), could probably be taken with only maintenance throttle
Gun it through the apex and stay about 2/3 to the left (don't track out all the way as you can run out of track over the blind crest.
Shift into 4th right after the crest once the car has settled.
OK to give point by early before the crest, but no passing before the crest.
Point by is better to the right.
Hope it helps.

These 2 things worked great for me. You can see by how much you gain on everyone not doing it this way.

Forget the track notes - this is what you need at Thompson!
