Tiptronic at the Track
All,
I've been searching for a link I saw on Rennlist a while ago that talked explained driving a tiptronic on the track and best way to drive it.
I can't for the life of me find it either here or with google.
Does anybody know of the link/page I'm talking about?
Thanks
Paul

Don't know what link. But what questions do you have?
I've got a tip in the 964, and I run it in manual mode for the whole day. It shifts up when the revs hit a certain spot, and I downshift when I want to slow it down a little.
It does get a little unnerving sometimes, as it will shift in the middle of a corner, but since it is going through the Torque Convertor it doesn't seem to upset the car much. But I'm running R-Compounds so they are very sticky.
For me, the only real problem is that in the 4 speed 964 it is really a 3 speed, as first gear is useless on a track, never going slow enough to engage.

I'd like that kind of info for a student I had at Barber last year. He had a Tip Twin Turbo (TTT?) and between the turbo rush and shifting at odd times it was not easy to drive w/ confidence. Always leery about getting back on the throttle hard on exit.
