Default Harry's Lap Timer interfaces

Looking for advice to quickly sort through the available OBDII interfaces and external GPS devices to use in my 997.1 S with Harry's Lap Timer and my Galaxy 4S.

Appreciate advice, experience and sources if you care to share.
Also looking for a harness bar that is reasonable to add and remove when needed. What are you using?

It's finally warming up here in the Northeast.

I'm currently using HLT (GrandPrix edition) with an external Dual XGPS160 (mounted to my roll bar/half cage) along with the BT1 bluetooth OBD2 module. In addition, I use an external GoPro Hero 4 with Wifi as the master camera in HLT. I overlay the data from HLT to the video captured from the GoPro using RaceRender. In the end, I get something that looks like this,

To mount the phone, I'm using a RAM mount for the iPhone 6+ (cradle mount).

Hope this helps.

I'd say the combo Dual GPS (I have the 150) and the BT1 dongle works very well. I am using HLT's internal video and occasionally drop GoPro footage into the overlaid video, although transferring it over is a little convoluted..

PSA. Do not use HLT with Iphone 6+ The optical stabilization in the 6+ makes the videos look like this. I've tried the recommendations that Harry posted but it just doesn't work. At this point the App is basically good for laptimes only (if you have an external GPS). You more or less need a GoPro for video. Hopefully Harry concentrates a bit on making iphone <> GoPro integration smoother. From what I've read online it's a bit tedious.

BML. Great video but I'm going to keep it simple and stick with my phone for now. Primarily a teaching aid. Beautiful track, where is that?

I am going to look into the Dual & BT1 devices. I've heard them mentioned before.

Robert. I can only describe that IP6 video as painful, looks like driving on square wheels.

Appreciate the tips gentlemen.

Can anyone explain how to get Harrys lap timer to hook up with gopro hero 4? Been looking around on youtube and the way its explained doesn't seem to work on my iphone 6+? Do you really have to overlay the HLT or video manually?

With 3 or 4 track events per year, I could never remember how to do it from event to event to I wrote it down. Here's my way and I'm sure there are others

1. Copy GoPro file to my Mac
2. Open Quick Time Player and trim to preferred lap leaving a few seconds each end
3. File > Export and choose 720P which will create .mov file
4. Save to folder in Dropbox
5. Open Dropbox on iP6, select movie and click the upload / download option
6. Select ‘Save Video’ and it’ll download to the camera roll
7. Open HLT, tap the lap, tap edit and add & sync the video.
