I bought mag centered 18" BBS wheels used from http://bobwoodmantires.com/ here in Charleston. So far they have worked perfecly for the last 3 years, but then they only have about 10-15 lapping days on them. They are really light and I like the look of them.

Yes, the center locks are fake, but it fills in the hole.

Ed,

Why do you need a wheel stud kit to mount the BBS wheels?

The factory wheel bolts are 30mm and you would need something like 50 mm bolts to make it work. These may be different since I got the 'new' style centers that clear the cup car brakes. I got the stud kit and it worked out awesome. Damn are these things light! My only dissapointment is no BBS stickers on them. I need to call them back for them.

Ed Newman,

How did the BBS mag wheels work out? .....What size's were they?

Do you know how much they weigh?

I would like to get a set for track use on my 04 GT3.

Any info would be helpful.

BBS mags are awesome. They weigh close to nothing. My Enkei's with the same tires claim to weigh under 20 and these are noticably lighter. Probably around 16-17 lbs, maybe less. I was planning on 2 more sets this year until BBS raised their prices by almost 50% What gives!!!! $3500 a set I'll do, $5000 is too much. Anyone have any contacts down there to yell at?

Don't even bother talking to the BBS guys. The place, as Chris C. said, has horrible customer support, the staff (and I use the term loosely) turns over every year, and they are not, repeat not, geared to deal with individual club-geek buyers like me & you.

Ed-- Hmmn, $4k for BBS (assume these are new centers and used rim halves, that's the usual Woodman deal) still strikes me as a lot of money. Just pray you never have to send them down to Georgia for a rebuild...

(still looking for that 3rd set of track wheels)

Have you guys considered Jongbloed mag racing wheels. Every bit as light as BBSs and they have the added benefit of sucking air through your rotors. The owner, Tom McGlynn, is an active PCA club racer and they are national club racing sponsors. I switched from BBS to them last year and have been very happy. They are worth taking a look at. No affiliation!!

Ed,
Where did you get your wheel stud kit? I would like to switch from bolts.

JimB, what does a set cost you? I like the fact that they're CR sponsors.

I imagine they vary by size but I think you should expect to pay between $3400 and $4000 as set. That is for a true mag center with hand spun alum halves.

One more plug, when you call Jongbloed customer service, Tom, the owner, answers the phone or returns your voice mail.

I have no experience with them...but you can try Bob Woodman Tires for BBS wheels/spares (rim halves, centers, etc.). They come to the Potomac PCA club races and perform tire change services from what I remember.

Good luck,
