In comparing/interpreting the 944 Cup rules it appears you can have a legal PCA SP 2 car that is not 944 Cup legal. So, if a 944 Cup race is run in conjunction with a PCA Club Race a car meeting SP2 rules but not 944 Cup rules would not be eligible for Cup points but still could podium in PCA SP2? Correct?

The intention is for the Cup rules and the PCA SP2/3 rules to be the same in how a car is prepared. The language can sometimes be different between the two, but the end result is intended to be the same.

In other words, a car prepared to the 944 Cup rules is intended to be legal in PCA SP2 or SP3 and vice versa. Now that is not to say we have not made mistakes in the past in how these two sets of rules are written. We correct any unintentional differences when we find them or a driver brings to our attention. We find something it seems every year.

If you know of any contradictions between the two, please let myself or Walter Fricke know about the issue. Thanks.

Thank you for the clarification. My car meets both PCA & 944 Cup rules based on your explanation of the rules.

I've read the rules but would like a technical ruling on the installation of a Spec Stage III+ clutch on a 1989 944 S2. Will this clutch move the car out of the stock class?

Never mind. If I understand section 8.3(f) correctly, "Any clutch disk, flywheel and pressure plate of stock diameter may be used."?

Your website isn't working today. Maybe the link needs an update?
