HawgeyesBBQ mentions Arthur Bryants . not all the greasy floors come out ahead, but competion experience counts OMMV

"If you come to Kansas City, and have to go to the famous Bryants BBQ down 1 block from 18th and Vine (historical blues district), then dont expect to get competition BBQ. There is a reason you dont see "Bryants BBQ" scoring in any BBQ competitions.

HOWEVER, if you go to Oklahoma Joes, who at least until a couple years was competing , you can expect to get that type of BBQ. But, if OK Joes really takes off and they expand... expect to see the things like pulled pork turn into the much more often availalbe SLICED pork"

cheers,

Jerry

What about "LC's BBQ" in KC? I hear that's one of the world's best.

In a word...no. Trust me, I've spun many a car with ABS. The BS about both feet in not working in an ABS car is just that...BS.

Now how did we get to talking about ABS anyway? I need some BBQ!

Notice how the best BBQ comes from those side of the road shacks. At least in Western KY they do. You want to sit down to eat? Take it back to your car. Want a drink? SHould have packed a cooler.

Off topic comment : notice how the 993TT did lock up, the smoke is a tale tale sign.

The best BBQ in the world can be found at Angelo's on White Settlement Rd in Fort Worth, TX. It's beef brisket, smoked over mesquite, and served with the coldest beer in town. Open since the 1950's.

Another legend of the same era amongst the BBQ underground was Sonny Bryans in Dallas. That was brisket, not pork.

A buddy and I drove up and down a road one night for over an hour looking for that place. Turned out it was a shack (just like you say Greg, that only served lunch. Doh, tourist!

(Maybe John D should start a Rennpork Forum)

North Carolina folk talking about BBQ and not one mention for Stamey's. I am quite suprised.

Without watching it a few times, looks like the 993 was offline which means stay clear of him. I'd also say that I would have run under him not outside as his momentum will USUALLY, but not always keep him going that way. Its a little bit of skill and a little bit of luck to stay clear, you did so thats all that matters.

Ed, you just fed his ego a plate of of food larger than the biggest plate of BBQ ever to be served in the "BIG" state of Texas. Let's get back on topic.

Hey Greg, what about that BBQ place near VIR? Certainly not that good, but pretty good considering the metropolis around VIR.

Short Sugar's? Can't say that I like their "style" of BBQ, though a few of young ladies who waitress there are sorta cute.

Another good one is Shorty's here in Miami. Since 1951.

They have pretty damn good Pork BBQ sandwich down there, if they only had Finnish beer, that would be perfect!

Hey, I'm getting hungry here... I love BBQ!

It was fine considering the other choice was a Japanese restaurant with a Mexican hibachi chef. Most amazing thing was to watch John Huang put away enough food for two or three people and still only weigh 150lbs.
