Looks like a convertible bond play. Not sure if FCA is going to spin them off completely.

This just in....
In order to bolster production numbers and enhance the IPO, the newly created Ferrari will:
1. Have a $65,000 MSRP "Cayman Fighter" Entry Car, rumored to do sub 4 second 0-60 with 185 MPH top end
2. 5 and 7 Passenger SUVs designed by Pininfarina, including V6, V8 and Diesel Options
3. A tractor division will also spring up to compete with Lamborghini

Sounds to me like they are just trying to raise some capital. Doesn't look like controlling interest in Ferrari is really in play, and any technology/engineering synergies (if any) with FCA will still exist.
It's like buying a minority interest in an NFL team... just an expensive way to get luxury box tickets.
