The "underground" never ceases to amaze me when it comes to spreading inaccurate information. The latest in the "rumor mill" is that our Daytona PCA Club Race is going to be cancelled. Problem is no one consulted me and I'm the chair for the event.
Yes we're off in attendance but why would we "bail" at the first sign of adversity? Yes it would be nice to have a full contingent of racers but we have no intention of cancelling the race. So to those naysayers out there lets put a positive spin on the event and help rather than hinder its execution.
To those that are waiting to see if it's going to happen...sign-up!! This is the perfect time of year to race in Florida. Crisp evenings (mid 60s) and wonderful days (70-80). How do you say onset of winter in the northern tier?

 

ROLL CALL! Who is showing up? Who is running what? Do you guys meet up before these events for the appropriate, pre-event "**** talking?" Should we meet somewhere?

I think we will be taking 2-3 customers. Two PDK Caymans, one with a stock 3.4L engine and the other with stock NOTHING and EVERYTHING aftermarket except the 997.2 GTS/x51 motor; we will possibly have a GTS 997.2 PDK race car too as a late arrival that is looking for track support. When I find out which garage the "PDK Gang" is using as a lair, I will circle back!

 

This will be my first trip to Daytona.

Do I need a golf cart at Daytona to get around the paddock?

Basically, $100/day for a cart...

 

Depends on how lazy you are. If they use both garages it's a fairly good hike from one set to the other but everything happens in between.

I will be there with a PIWIS and we can help you if you have issues. It's Daytona though so you will have lots of air flow. The PDK should be fine. Do you run a cooler on yours for the transmission stack and LSD fluid?

 

I'll be there with the Stock F Boxster. Should be a fun event! And yes, a paddock toy is helpful at Daytona. You can do a ton of walking there. That's why I bought one of these....

 

Really wanted to do this but it wasn't meant to be. Anyone know if the date next year will be similar or will it go back to first weekend/early October ?

 

Right now Daytona has us scheduled for the same weekend (23-25 Oct 2015). Probably won't know for sure until the first of the year.

 

Allen, you do realize that is a conflict with the normal CMP race schedule? Unfortunately you guys changing the date to be on top of ours forced CMP to be cancelled this year...
