He was fun to watch and really likes the old cars! No stick, more power than they used to make out of 121 cubic inches, his intimate familiarity with the track and his tremendous confidence all shows through! I'll post some from behind!

For sure - confidence no doubt. Just grabs it by the scruff!

Can't wait to see video from the outside!

Very cool, Jim, thanks for sharing.

That video is a masterclass in how to drive Laguna in a relatively low-powered car. He uses ALL of the track, and is extremely committed! It is amazing to see how a pro like Patrick Long can immediately "feel out" an unfamiliar car and push it to its limits. Early 911s are such a pleasure to drive, and that one must be incredible.

The visor cam is very cool, it is fun to see the mirror checks. If you watch closely, one can see the compressive effect of the Corkscrew, as it causes the camera to move down!

BTW, I LOVE the BMW/Alpina 2002ti that he passes at the very beginning of the video, apparently it was restored by BMW just in time for the Historics.

Now if I could only get back there anytime soon . . . .

Yeah, only about 15+ sec/lap better than I could manage when I was 20 year old who knew it all in my '68 back in '82. (Of course, that's kind of extrapolating from what the original, non-neutered course was back then.)
