Dave

I'm honored. But I had an unfair advantage.

With my lap times, I spend a lot of time looking in my mirrors. I'm used to that perspective.

I thought the kink was already closed for Club events after the Memorial Weekend?
I guess that changed?

Rick,
That is the hotel I was refering to and it does show rooms available. Let me know if you change your mind about going.
Radical Racer should be at Mid Ohio so you should get a chance to take a ride in his wicked car. That is an opportunity that should not be missed.

Jeff,
Yeah, they have a police escort for the race cars that partake in the concours (and any DE guys that hang around for the trip) Pretty cool blasting into town at 70+ miles an hour. A waiting crowd of 100's greets the cars as they pull in town. Very cool. Even better, the escort back to the track after dark with many race cars having no headlights!!!

Eric, Thanks for the invite. About this kink, what configuration will we be running? I don't see on the track map how this can be run differently!

Cheers, James

Apparently not. Look at this thread. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...t=road+america

This is why I figured the chicane would be in by now.

Look forward to meeting you as well.

Guys,
The "Bend" is open now but speaking to the event chair, it is optional for each group if the Kink be opened for their event. Chicago PCA event chair says we will run it. The "Bend" looks ugly, not something I would want to take coming out of the carousel at 90+mph. The Bend is a sharp left turn after track out. Track out is also on the left side of the track so if you think about it, you would have to jack the car to the right and quickly cut over to make the turn in for the bend. If this turn is ever used, it will really screw up the flow of the back part of the track. It is not like the chicane at MO where you are trying to scrub off speed. This turn will effect the carousel, the kink ect. And, the area body shops have put together a strong lobby to keep the kink open!!

About the new configuration -- When you think about it, they may just move the same problem a little further back up the track, there isn't a lot of runofff room no matter which way you are turning. But at least you're braking going into the new configuration as opposed to accelerating, or at least modulating the throttle (in my case)

James

Your name was one of those I recognized. Stop by the HWFM Turtle Pond. always lots of laughs. Even when we aren't discussing lap times.

Greg -- Slow???? Yeah, right. (Who you trying to hustle?)

I will have to tell you my Road America story from years back... My goal is just to finish in tact. I am going to run the Michelin's again and see if I can get them to work better for me than they did at Putnam. Let's hope for some hot weather, I mean really hot.
When you look at the entry list for C, I am probably going to do well to be middle of the pack. Very strong group of cars.

When I first heard about the death of the Kink I wasn't too disappointed but after seeing it in person I'm with Eric. The new chicane really screws up that section of the track.

Greg, at least you'll have me to kick around. BTW, what size sport cups do you run? I have a couple of very good 295/30/18s that I'll throw in the trailer if you can give them a good home.

Thanks for the offer, those are the sizes that I do run in the rear.
First round or two is on me ok?
