Default Harness mount

Greetings gents,
I have a noob question on 6 point harness install. Car is a 99 996 with tecquipment roll bar. I plan on installing a race seat for harness use at DE's, not Club Racing.

On the 996, the right side seat belt is attached to the stock seat itself. This is where I am perplexed. There is a floor mount for the left side but I don't see one for the right. Is it safe to mount the harness to the seat? This doesn't seem logical or safe to me but I don't see a floor mount on the right side.

I hope that all makes sense. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm in the process of a similar install in a 986 boxster using GT3 Recaro seats. I can confirm the factory tunnel side seat belt receptacle is mounted to a post on the seat (edit: the post is on the seat mounting bracket that attaches to the slider). For the lap belts I am using Brey Krause hardware that mounts to that same post while keeping the factory receptacle so I can use the 3 pt belt on the street. I'm using Schroth Profi II 6 points. I have a similar set up in my Cayman R with factory sport buckets. There I have the GT3 specific Schroth harness which also attaches to the post on the seat. It does seem a floor mount might be better, but attaching to the seat post is the standard set up. Interested in comments from others.

Thanks Zed. I too am going with the GT3 seat for dual use. If the seat post is standard operating procedure then it is what it is.

I'm also running GT3 seat and tunnel mount is on seat. Sub-belt mount is also on seat using factory GT3 parts which tie across the seat rails.

If you are using the GT3 seats, hopefully you got the GT3 specific schroth harnesses. Those will allow you to bolt onto the seat for the side belts because it already has the brackets. Unscrew the bolts for the standard belts and bolt it back up. If you already purchased a set on non-gt3 seat specific schroth harnesses you might want to purchase some adapters from brey krause.

The belt that goes under the seat can be tied around a submount bar. Hopefully your seat came with them attached, otherwise you can get the OEM porsche one or the BK one.
