Default Trouble unhitching my trailer

I'm having trouble uncoupling my trailer from my truck lately, especially if my car is still up on the trailer.

I've tried chocking the wheels of the trailer and putting the parking brake on my truck to make sure nothing is shifting but it doesn't really help. As I crank the trailer up it lifts the back end of my truck up in the air. I have to raise it a little and keep shaking the trailer until the ball drops.

It is a steel trailer with four wheels and I trailer my 951.

Do you lube the inside of the trailer tongue? This problem seems to get worse and worse as my trailer gets older.

Any ideas?

It's probably that thingie inside hitch in coupling of trailer that's stuck. U probably need to check/inspect the part. I literally have to jump up/down the tow ball stalk to pop off the trailer receiver for it to release while my friend pulls on that switch. Mike

Use graphite on the he spring mechanism and make sure you don't have any deformed parts from perhaps dropping the trailer on hue he ball with jaws already closed. Also check your ball as it ages and the rust forms that small amount of friction and increased diameter can play heck with you.

Soak the whole mechanism with WD-40.

Sand the ball down to remove any rust, add dow corning 111 or some grease on the ball and hitch and you should be good to go.

All of the above but when it's stuck, a 5 lb maul usually works.

Is this after a really good day at the track? You know, ball is bigger than actual size.
