Default TWS impending doom

One of our NASA regional guys was at the College Station city commissioners meeting tonight.

They city gave the approval for the developer to move forward with tuning TWS into a housing development. Seems as 2014 will be the last season for TWS they will be moving equipment onto the site in 6-8 months.

I was there last night. They have lots of studies and approvals to go through. They stated that they plan for construction to start in 2016. I suspect there is a decent chance operations will continue through 2015 but that remains to be seen.

The conspiracy theorist in me says they want to get rid of the race track first to develop the other land around it. Just getting TWS closed would increase the development value for all the other land. I mean, who besides us, would want to buy a house next to a race track?

It sure looks like the rails have been greased, as that's the only time government moves at the pace we have seen here since December.

I really hope I'm wrong about this...

Enjoy it while we can. I will be out there fighting to be the last guy to run the track.

I agree with Mike. They still require state approval, which is a given. Then they will need to raise the bonds, probably the longest time slot in their planning horizon. I would anticipate one more PCA Club Race if LSR has the energy to plan an event that might not happen.

One of the reasons I'll be there with Chin in a couple week's time.

Disappointing. Very disappointing.

That was the ONLY reason I'd ever go to that town, ever.

Was there this past weekend. Perfect weather. Just for the heck of it they ran the parade laps on the old oval. Very eerie. Some of the splits in the paving looked like they could swallow a tire. Will really miss the road course.
