Good helmet to helmet communication for DE?
Any suggestions for a good helmet to helmet communicator? Ideally one that is low profile/width inside the helmet to prevent ear discomfort. Non permanent mounting, looking for one you can just slide in and out of the helmet.
Thx!

The usual is the Chatterbox wired system for in car comm. I'm looking at one of the bluetooth type, as our local motorcycle shop says the technology (noise canceling) is better. Haven't decided yet - want to try out the bluetooth first.
Car to pits will take a radio type system.

A good reasonably priced system is the Chatterbox. Info can be found here:

Paseb:
For pit to car communications, you'd need a radio system from one of several racing communications vendors. Three that I know of are Racing Radios, Speed Com, or Racing Electronics.

Not NANDI
I have the wired chatterbox, installed in my helmet, and a pair of the student sets.
the student sets slide in the helmet between your ear. going on 5 yeas on the chatterbox.
the newer bluetooth option look nice, and will probably last longer.
I never got more than 4 weekends out of the $75 nadi (but was fine when it worked)
I also tried the FRS -vox radios. too much time lag on the vox setup. and Push to talk is not workable for a driver.

I think Nady is a crap shoot. I had one and it was a piece of junk, lasted maybe two events. Some guys have them for years and swear by them.
Chatterbox just came out with a new model, much better than the old, better battery, lighter, some noise cancelling features.

I have been using the same Chatterbox for years, and it just keeps going. It was much more durable than the Nady I had before. It is great for instructing or talking with the "other" person in the car. I won't work for talking to somebody in the pits or outside of the car however.

I've been using Chatterbox for 6 years with out any issues....other than students taking off with my student headset at th end of the day or ya king the headset out of there helmet and busting the wire. So...I need to go buy yet another student headset...again!

Mike Mullins @ Racecom of Virginia wired my helmet with an IMSA plug and then made adapters for Chatterbox and Nady. He's a great guy, knowledgeable and a good first choice to contact. His mics are noise cancelling and a huge help when the student is in an open exhaust car.

Here's what I'm doing/my plan...IMSA style helmet kit/ear speakers with connection to use for in-car radio for crew communication.
+1 on Racecom of VA for the IMSA to Chatterbox connection - it's on their website. Going to get a Chatterbox from Mark at OG with a student one piece speaker/mic. this way...for racing i plug into the car radio for crew communication, and for instructing I plug into the chatterbox, but either way, I use the ear buds and microphone that's installed in my helmet.
