If any of you guys are into MotoGp, the final race of the year in 2013 came down to Lorenzo on the Yamaha and Marquez, a 20 year old rookie on a Factory Honda bike. Lorenzo was 2nd in the championship points and needed to win and have Marquez finish 4th or lower to win the championship. All season long, it was Marquez, Lorenzo and Pedroza, Marquez' teammate, running up front by themselves with Valentino Rossi and others in the 2nd tier of riders.

The start of the race is a great example of race craft in slowing down to let that 2nd tier of riders hopefully get in between you and your competition to allow Marquez to be shuffled back. At times, Lorenzo is overtaken, but he had speed in the bag and gets the lead back, but can't check out because he needs people in between him and Marquez if he is to win the championship. What ensues is brilliant racing. Have any of you guys had to do this to win a championship?

Having guys like Rossi as a second tier can sure help move some rubber between you and give you a chance to pull it out . Marquez is a force like Rossi was. There is just so many good guys there now . If they hadn't of changed the tire rule , more Honda rule jerking , then Rossi would have passed even Ago in wins.
