Wow, pretty disappointed. The design doesn't have to be fancy but a little color would help. Seems like an odd choice of a "major" sponsor. Maybe negotiations fell through with other potential sponsors? Or maybe they really want to stress the effort is coming out of their own pocket (in other words we're recommitted to spending Panamera, Macan, and Cayenne dollars to go racing).?

Favorite livery because I can't help myself:

I don't think the problem is the livery.

That things makes the (still-ugly) Audis look beautiful.

But then, 'pretty is as pretty does.' And I sincerely hope the 919 wins Le Mans.

I read it was going to run the Veltins beer livery
The issue is French laws prohibit alcohol advertising. If Veltins had a clothing line (Martini), then it could happen.

Didn't really set the world on fire with that livery. Bit bland, no?
Certainly understated - will look great at the end of the race with all of the dirt and tire marks. Like the livery better than what we saw at Daytona. Didn't like that at all.

I agree.

what makes no sense to me is why didn't they use this at Daytona...this livery would have been extremely photogenic on the banking.

Hated it at first but kind of growing on me.
The car looks like it could have been in a Star Wars movie.
How long until some guy replicates it on his Cayman?

Not a big fan, livery looks better on 911's for some reason. It will grow on me. As for looks, they come after function. If it's fast, it's great looking.

Hate this livery and hated the RSR's when they released that as well. For the 50th year anniversary for the 911 that was the best they could come up with? I think the R18 looked menacing in the flat grey/black color, then the all white was beautiful as well. How many times is the dumb script on the top of the car going to be seen?

Here's a video of the 919 and Audi testing at the same time. For anyone who thinks it's the same car, watch the video. Dramatically different aero treatment all around...

Very nice, thanks for posting that. Think the best thing about it is the sound the RSR makes powering up out of the turns.

I'm still not sure how those front shoulders/headlights are aerodynamic? Even the Audi R18 looks more RS Spyder like in those front areas. The 919 looks like it has vertical walls trying to push through the air....

I like these designs way better than the one that was chosen!
