Default Another great day at the track

Took my 9 year old son Cooper to Sebring PCA DE yesterday. I was busy with my student and when I return to our pits but don't see Cooper. Look across the paddock and see Cooper taking pictures of this Ferrari 458 Italia. The very nice owner (Joseph Yung from KY, in case anyone on here knows him) asks Cooper if he would like to sit in it, of course, then asks if he would like to go out during the lunch track tour, of course again. Later in the day I return to our pit to find Coop over there again. Joe had to change the rear brake pads and Cooper was there to help. So Coop has 11.1 miles around Sebring in a Ferrari and has worked on Ferrari brakes, both more than I have done. Way to go Coop and big thank you to Joe!

One if my best days at the track was taking my wife and daughter to my local course. Harris hill road in my Bixster S street/track car.

Took my daughter out for some 3/4 paced laps then gave my wife the keys and road shotgun.
Then I switched sides to show her the line.
Rinse and repeat all around.

It was the first time on track for both. We all had a blast.

We have some old actual photos of me at that age in a slantnose at the old fairgrounds track when IMSA ran in Tampa. Very cool. Back then, I had an RC car with a 962 body. Seems like only yesterday. It must have been around 1987-88 because my dad had not yet bought the 89 930 (can home on my birthday December 23, 1989). I remember because we used armor all to some the hood of dad's 84 carrera in the Porsche corral. LOL.

What a great thrill for a boy that age, and a nice memory for you and your son. He will be hooked before he’s old enough to drive.

John, that's great! I took my little monkey with me yesterday when I was coaching two folks...she had a fantastic time! And she will be with me again for 3 days while I am coaching for the 3 days of the TWS Club Race!

Has been hooked for some time now. I don't care what car it is, if I just need to back it out of the garage to wash it, he wants to ride. Wash the car and go to put it back in the garage, he wants to ride.

http://www.awolphoto.com/ just posted this pic to their Facebook page and I showed it to Cooper

Of course he loved the picture but his other comment was "isn't that going into the hairpin?" That's my boy, already knows the track at age 9.

Very cool to see. I've met Joe before at Mid Ohio and he's a really nice guy. He does work on and know about his 458 and isn't afraid to wheel it around at the limits either.
