Default How to retrieve serial number from AMB transponder ?

Hey guys,

I need to provide PCA with the serial number of the AMB transponder in my 944 which i purchased last Fall and it's not legible anymore on the unit.
The PO who hasn't raced the car in a few years says he
doesn't know it ... go figure !

I phoned MY Laps North America and the nice young lady on the line was stumped and had no idea what to tell me !

Anybody have any clues ?

Cheers
Phil

Not the easiest thing to do, but if there's a track nearby with a timing system they'll obviously be picking up your transponder and will be able to list the number. Probably no help in the middle of winter, though .

You might try taking it off the car and looking up a local RC car racetrack, go kart track, etc. and see if they will let you swipe it over the loops.

I know where an RC track is located but they're snowed in as well at this point.

No track possibility until May ...

It's supposed to be in the car's logbook if you have that.

It's also supposed to be listed in the "Compliance and Annual Inspection" paperwork that we send to Susan Shire every year. Not sure how long she keeps those forms on file but you may try her.

If the previous owner has a mylaps.com account he can log in and look it up. Settings->Your Products->Transponder number.

They should add a spot on your Club Racing license for it... I write mine on there every year, but it is in my logbook also..

Why don't you email Michael Wingfield, National T&S Chief on what to do? (His email is in Club Racing News).

I bet this isn't a big deal. At most races, somebody has a broken transducer and PCA gives them a temporary unit. I can't be a big deal for them to get your ID number setup by the 2nd or 3rd practice.

Thank you for the help guys !

I emailed Joe Casella the NER Region NASA director and he was able to provide it to me with the car details.

And AIM needs to know you are the new owner of the car/transponder.

Explain the situation to Susan and when you do a lap at your next event, go in and ask timing and scoring. They'll be scoring the number but won't have a name. That would be you. BTDT.
