Anyone else miss Speed Channel?
After a big race day I miss the Dave Despain type show that gives an overview of the race activities, FOX just does not fill the track junkie in me, anyone else?

I always enjoyed Windtunnel after a busy day of racing... don't know if he'll surface anywhere.
Leigh Diffey is nice enough, but I also prefer Varsha to him on F1 telecasts too. Have always enjoyed Hobbs since he was a driver so I'm glad he's still doing F1.

Yeah. MRN was an absolute mess. They need to allow RLM to do their show for the rest of the world so we can stream it. The nascar commentary was just absolutely unbearable.

Other than F1, I hardly spent any time on Speed Channel over the last several years of it's existence. The real loss was SpeedVision, which actually broadcast - get this... racing! And believe it or not, way back then, it wasn't always NASCAR. Speed Channel weaned me off of the SpeedVision loss over a number of years, to the point that I hardly miss it at all.
Speed Channel followed in the formula that MTV used.

Rich, we all miss Speed TV, you are not alone. I miss all the European racing Speed broadcast in Nov - January. I guess UFC is much more popular than auto racing as it seems UFC fills their airtime. I watched the MRN broadcast online and found it sad the announcers referred to IMSA as ISMA, are you kidding me? They also kept trying to make a NASCAR connection to the Daytona 24 which was laughable.

I stopped watching Speed as much when instead of racing they started showing shows like pinks constantly. Although I miss Speed now that its Fox Sports 1 and was showing college basketball instead of the race over the weekend, had to watch it on Fox Sports 2 non-HD.
I prefer velocity for my auto programming, although they're starting to get some of the same style of shows that lead me away from Speed. Dallas car sharks or something was on the other night, it was terrible.

I definitely miss the old SpeedVision. Viewership for non-NASCAR racing must be sadly low, as evidenced by the near-empty grandstands at this year's 24hrs of Daytona. Contrast that to the max-capacity crowds at the 24hrs of LeMans and the Nurburgring 24hrs...
