Question SmartyCam *AND* SmartyCam HD on same CAN-Bus?

Peter or Jerry..... (or any other SmartyCam guru out there)

Is it possible to have BOTH a SmartyCam and a SmartyCam HD connected to the same CAN-bus, with BOTH acting as slaves to an MXL dash?

Inquiring minds want to know!

AIM says YES. You could not do it with two regular SC non-hd but I was able to do it with one SC non-hd and one SC-GP. I believe you will be able to do multiple SC-HD also. I can loan you a data hub if you want to try it. I even have a non-SC if you need one to test. I'll try two SC-HD off the data hub in the next day or so.

Jerry, thanks for getting back to me. I'm waiting on my SC-HD to show up on Friday or Monday. Still have my original SmartyCam hooked into a 4-port CAN extension off of my MXL dash. Since I have a spare port on the hub, I thought I might try to bring the SC-HC into the network as well.

Now you've given me some to experiment with!!

With the latest firmware on each component, my experience is that that does work.

Toby, make certain of that before connecting the SC HD.

Will do. I know I have the latest firmware on the SmartyCam. Will update the HD when it makes it here via UPS (although that could be in a few weeks given UPS' performance of late!).

It's not the camera firmware that is the issue when connecting SC HD's. It is the "Master" logger and connected accessory firmware that is important.

MXL and GPS-05 (as well as EVO3, EVO4 and Solo DL) firmware upgrading is mandatory before connecting the SC HD to any system for proper operation.
