BMW M235i Racing

Jep, Jesse Krohn, Matias Henkola, Henri Österlund to name a few....and there's more.
German-Finnish racing team Ring-attack has one M325i and Jesse and Matias have been racing with another car with the Danish MPB team.
Here's a clip from 24 hours of Nürburgring with Jesse behind the wheel. I think he still holds the track record for the 24h variante (GP track + Nordschleife) in this class.
Matias is going to run the 24h of Dubai this weekend, sharing the seat with BMW factory driver Jörg Müller.

Still got flappy paddles! From the review: "After looking at all the options, BMW felt the 8HP was the best option and, after driving it, we're inclined to agree. It's not as engaging as a six-speed manual, but it does allow you to get on with finding the apex and building speed."
Already have a great protocol for AiM from it....
SIX of them running in class at the 24H Dubai!

Wonder about curb weight. Bimmers have gotten so heavy - taken the feel and tossability out of their cars. The new M3/M4 begins to reverse the trend, but compared to Porsches they are still 400-600 lbs heavier.

I think it is one of the most reliable "cup" cars out there at the moment. Just check how they cope in the VLN. If they survive that, they'll survive anything.
Engine is good for at least 20.000miles (if not more) of racing according to BMW. Gearbox lasts a lot longer. Spare parts are very reasonably priced.
There will be an M235i Cup in Belgium this year too.
It's great that it's single spec, thoroughly tested (there have been some improvements since the first version, thanks to the VLN racing), so no laboratory on wheels where you need to figure everything out yourself as with most home-built racers.
It's quite heavy for a race car. They also limited how far they went in their conversion, just check how much of the original dash / center console still is left in the car for instance. I also suppose the automatic will be quite a lot heavier than a sequential, but that's a trade-off you make in order to save money by not having to pay expensive rebuilds every X hours.
Engine is quite stock too, they could easily push +400hp but again it would sacrifice reliability and shorten its lifespan.
Concerning price: we could/can buy a new one in Belgium for 69.000 euro without VAT. That excludes spare parts, extra wheels and airjacks.
Production numbers are very limited. They built 25 or 35 for VLN, and will be building 15 for Belgium.

From BMW NA;
Hello Kenneth,
Thank you very much for your interest in purchasing a BMW M235i Racing.
At the moment, we are working on defining our US offer for the car: product specifications, pricing, distribution, eligibility on the various series, etc... We hope to be able to sell the car in the US later this year. I will keep you apprised as soon as more information is available.
