that is such a cool car! The braking looks killer. Thanks for posting

Thanks, fortunately it is just a rear bumper from getting hit by Pat in the 911. We are all glad it wasn't worse.

The car was very good. Jimmy was having abs issues at the beginning but everything must have reset when we cut the power during the pit stop. The car is a blast to drive.

Great video Doug! Congrats on the new class record. It's hard to say what may have caused the spin in the enduro. I heard the wheel spin at the 1:20 mark in your video. I didn't notice anything different in grip level in my car going in except for what was expected from the shallow entry. You can hear tire noise from your video all the way into the corner. It seemed like we were both getting in there pretty hot and maybe the inside line put the car in a dusty spot on the track. Whatever the reason it was just bad luck to have a small issue at the wrong time. If the same spin was any other lap it would have been a non event. Just bad timing with the traffic packed so close.

Doug, I was the red car in front of you going into one, There was definitely something on the track I remember getting loose myself and saw you spin in my rear view mirror.

Was great seeing this car @ RA and those brakes are amazing!

I don't know how you can use so much curb and still keep the car planted. In DE sessions if I got on some of the same curbs my fillings came loose

Thanks for flying the 993 flag and keeping the chassis in contention

Yeah, it happens. At Road America traffic is a double edge sword.
You need a tow down the straights, but sometimes you get hurt in the corners.

2:31.4 was my theoretical best for that session.

Did a 2:32.0 in enduro qualify, traffic was pretty bad in that lap.

Theoretical for that session was 2:31.1

Maybe next year!

With the right conditions I def think there is a 2:30 in my car.

Here is a lap from qualifying in the A2 car. Also added it to the original post on page 1.

Thats a great lap in the GTA2 car Cory, and the car sounds amazing.. is that a 4.0L?

Did the draft help on that lap from Klaus car?

Very nice driving and I love how quick you get to full throttle on corner exit, power down and counter steer.. my favorite way!

There's the 2:13! So awesome! Cory, you do exactly what I do & coach between 1 and 3 and also entering 5, to set the arc of the car properly with the arc of the track This is apparent in the Cayman video and the Cup video. Very few others do, they just straightline things...

Pretty hairy start of video at 14.
Did you catch the inside of the curbing?
Nice save and great lap.
Must be pretty awesome to drive all the different race cars that you do.

Why is that faster?

I am someone that straight lines and it works well for me.

If there is reason it is faster I'm all ears.

Is there data supporting this?

It can make it easier for the car to make the following corner, since the car is pointed less away from the direction of that corner. It's all about small ways of improving the entry attitude & vector of the car in order to have to brake a bit less & carry a bit more entry speed. In other words, having to turn in 90 degrees is easier for the car & theoretically faster than 105 degrees... YMMV !

Hmmm.....maybe this becomes more important with the faster cars.
Or, maybe some people over exaggerate the straight line and compromise the turn in.

Looking at my video, I am following the contour of the track well before turn in.

Thanks for the info.

The engine is a 997.2 spec 3.8 with Grand Am headers and a custom pipe we fabricated and were trying out that weekend.

There really was only 1 flying lap in qualifying, so I can not be absolute, but there was just over a tenth gained by the draft. The time gained was just a couple hundredths more than was lost with the pass in turn 13.
