Default 2013 Silverstone Moto GP - Pure Racing

Forget about the NASCAR truck series this as Senna once said, "is pure racing". Has anyone else been following the Moto GP season? It's incredible!!!

Video is the last 2 laps of an extraordinary race in an extraordinary year. Let me set the table:

Marquez (#93) is a 20 year old rookie who has won 5 races already this year and leading the championship. Lorenzo (#99) and Pedrosa (#26) trailing in the points, broke their collar bone a few weeks ago. Marquez DISLOCATED his shoulder in the morning practice and was racing 3 hours later on a 1000cc motorcycle. What happens next is beautiful....

Current crop of MotoGP riders is among the best ever, Rossi, Pedrosa, Lorenzo, Crutchlow, Bradl, Spies and then Marquez shows up and resets the bar. One more year and he's going to be unstoppable.

Moto GP, Silverstone 2013: Last two laps - YouTube
funny, i woke up and happened across the last 5 or 10 minutes of the race. captivating. when lorenzo makes his last pass, he dives and brakes very late.....starting the turn in on his front wheel only. earlier on they said he had a shoulder separation. two totally different injuries, but the media often uses the terms dislocation and separation interchangeably. not sure which it really was.

Saw the race and yes, it was awesome as they practically every time are!
The way they slide those things is amazing... And the gyro cam really shows how damn laid down they are in corners.

I've been MotoGP fan ever since Jarno Saarinen (when it was called TT), very exiting form of motorsport!

I've been following MotoGP for a few years now. Amazing machines and the guys are incredible riders. They get hurt regularly and a couple years ago one was killed on track. Still a bit the wild west of motorsports.

This last race at Silverstone was among the best races of any kind I've seen.

Just this past weekend I stumbled across the movie "Fastest", a feature length documentary of MotoGP filmed between 2009 and 2011.

I agree that motorcyle racing (GP/TT etc.) are incredible forms of motorsport and in many ways remind me a little of how car racing used to be.

I stopped watching MotoGP a few years ago because a) I stopped riding and b) Rossi was winning everything (although I did watch the season when Nicky Hayden won his championship...2006 IIRC?).

anyway, great competition and yes it looks like I need to start watching again
