Watched it last night and you are spot on about the story. I think you have to approach this movie knowing the Ron Howard had to make some concessions in the hopes of a broader appeal. That being said I still enjoyed it. Sure there were liberties taken in regards to Lauda and Hunts relationship. This has to be expected for those that don't follow motor sport and whom need friction to be drawn into the story.

I for one am happy that this leap of faith was taken. How many movies about racing are out there that aren't laughable to those of us fans. My only fear is that it won't make enough money to attract any future endeavors.

Here's to my being wrong.

I agree, hope it does make some money so movie makers will continue making these types of movies. The movie for me was a little off for the first couple of tenths but I kept an open mind and soon was into the movie and the period. loved the lighting and period props even the cameras from the photographers was correct. It's worth seeing and even if you know people who that are not into racing.

I thought it was fantastic. Your wife will like it too, even if she's a lesbian (Olivia Wilde).

NY Times review (not exactly a track junkie's periodical) was VERY favorable.

As for Olivia Wilde (aka 13) I'll take her even if she IS a lesbian

Haha I saw it last night with my girlfriend. I thought it was fantastic and so did she (probably more for the shirtless Chris Hemsworth). Thanks to the film makers for giving us Olivia Wilde to even the tone a little though!

I saw the film last night and agree with all the reviews, my wife loved it as well but she will also help me change wheels on my race car at the track!

I was a school boy in England in 1976 and attended 2 of the races in the film as a spectator (the British and French Grand Prix). I felt the movie really got the period details right as I remember them. At the time in England the events of the film were huge and transfixed us all, we were F1 Mad and James Hunt was our hero!

I was lucky enough to meet James Hunt a couple of times in the late '70's through my sister who dated a couple of Italian F2/F3 drivers. He really was larger than life!

I think we are all very lucky to have this film done as well as it was about our beloved sport. And as a side note while not a racing film like Le Mans classic this will likely boost our ranks. Folks that own cars that should be tracked will like likely be inspired to show up at DE evens to learn to drive.

When an actor designed to be unattractive can get the hoots and bollards from the guys in the back seat and the woman of his lifetime from driving an older beat up car well, men will start flocking to tracks to require this skill set that has been lost in modern political proper worlds.

I like the film and thankfully it was done in a way that will make money, will attract folks,a Nd does not scare wives....

Interviews with Niki Lauda about Rush. Really interesting/good to hear him comment saying that the movie was exactly how it was in real life...
Saw it Saturday....loved it. So did my wife, but then again, she's involved with racing and driving so I'm not surprised...
