Default Dempsey Le Mans

Okay this might be fluff but Discovery Channel is broadcasting a show at 10pm tonight called Patrick Dempsey: Le Mans. Also on Velocity at same time.

Cool and he finds a way to pay for racing. I like it, he seems genuine.

I've met him. He's the real deal. Very down to earth guy. Huge Porsche enthusiast. After watching the first episode, I'm amazed he can keep his head in the game. When I met him I saw a small glimpse of how much in demand he is at a race.

My wife's friends asked her if he was going to be at the Baltimore Gran Prix. Since it was close by they were thinking of attending. That's got to be good for the sport.

Great show!

Like for most racers he's a racing junkie.

The segment shows it but more awesome is that they show all the pain, suffering and cost that it takes to be a racer, making is celebrity status a tool to get it done while he learns a new trade and skill while making the mistakes you need to make.

It could almost be about anyone else with enough success in life to go racing.

I look forward to the next episode!

The more I've learned about Dempsey, the more I like him. I know one of his crew and he says he is an awesome guy to work for...if you didn't know he was "Patrick Dempsey, Hollywood Star", you would just think he was another passionate racer that is doing everything he can to be the best he can be.

Love the fact he did part of the interview in a 356 cab...

Also interesting to see that even with all his status, stuff still happens that can screw everything up - late delivery of car, bankruptcy of Lola, 'kill switch' pulled (I laughed...happened to me at a club race enduro!) Yep, he's just one of us when he's at the track!

Smile Saw it, loved it....

it's a 4 part series...all ready to go on the DVR.

Boy ain't this the truth...if it can go wrong, it will go wrong. Just back from a weekend at the track, can't believe how many little things just didn't go as smoothly as I thought they would. And wouldn't you know it, I had a kill switch issue.

I didn't go as fast as I thought I would either...but I know how to fix that, next time go faster,

Best part of Episode 1 - while on the "stage" speaking to the employees of one of his principal sponsors - "Blah, blah, blah... solar energy is important...... blah, blah, blah. I'm gonna go get drunk!"

Thoroughly enjoyed that episode. I am now a bigger fan of Dempsey than before... I'll be following & routing for him in upcoming races.

And if I recall correctly, his DD back in 2007 was a Black w/Orange GT3RS. I still want that car.

Hi guys - I enjoyed the first episode very much and I respect the guy more than ever, but I am totally confused, he was running a Mazda RX8 in the past in Rolex Grand Am and the races I saw recently, including LeMans he is in a Porsche Cup, in episode one he is in a Lola LMP2, what is going on????

I assume the mystery is solved in the coming episodes.

Series starts with 2012 season. The Porsche Le Mans campaign was 2013. I suspect they'll walk us through the timeline as part of the series.

Enjoyed episode 1 as well. He's had an impressive rise in just 7 years.
