Maybe a stupid question, but do these 3-layer FIA suits require an underwear layer as well?

Nope, but do it. It takes a suit that is good for about 15ish seconds and makes it good for a 5ish more.

thanks...I was looking at that suit but I'm not sure how I feel about that whole shoulder zip design...watching a demo video it looked a little awkward to me.

anyone with that suit care to comment?

My suit (first one) should arrive next week.

After some research I recently bought a silver OMP One Evo from ebay for $1400 including shipping (Damon Tweeks, a UK outfit). Day and night compared to a $700 Momo I bought previously and returned. (230gr/sqm vs. 400gr/sqm). IMO, the lightest protection per $ -- even lighter than a $3k+ Stand21 suit.

Note: Momo (and I think Sparco) size 56 = OMP size 54
