And I had taped something on the history of the Trans Am in the middle of the night just before Speed signed off and it was an OLD pre HD small screen show with Sam Posey when it was still Speedvision!! Still fun to watch, but boy did everyone look YOUNG!! And it made me miss the old SV too!!

I am in a deep, deep depression. I barely made it through last night without WT. Don't even talk about losing V-8 Supercars.

Apparently his contract with the channel is preventing him from joining the rest of the old team at NBCSports. Fox will probably keep him around for the BJ auction shows. He's also been involved in cycling for years.

I cared 25 years ago when I was in college. I can't imagine caring now.

it's a void for sure, V8 supercars, DTM will be missed, I would have hoped FS1 would have picked up speedcenter at the least

See? everyone bitched about how much they hated Speedchannel, how much they hated the coverage, how much Nascar was on. Be careful what you complain about, they just might take it ALL away.
Not a Nascar fan at all, but AT LEAST it's racing. Now we get UFC and other 'extreme' sports. I'd rather watch Nascar...

I do know that USCR will be on FS1/FS2, no idea about V8 supercars and the others.

What gets me, is that in this day and age where they can have a channel for just about anything, why can't a channel devoted to racing stay around? There are so many racing events going on, from grassroots to pro that there's got to be content. I know, it's all about money, but like any other business, start small (small budgets and all) and grow. Heck, how do they fund all the other crap on the million channels we get that nobody cares about?

Anyone remember Jim Liberatore? He was the head of Speedvision and got booted when Fox came in. He tried to create a new channel The Racing Network (I think) and it never panned out. He's now CEO of Outdoor Channel.

+1000. It always amazes me up with 60+ Y/O men get excited and all dressed up for CFB or NFL. Its as if they want to relive their "glory days" for the rest of their life....even though most of them didn't play college sports.

P.S.... I Loved Speed Vision, liked Speed Channel but now am on suicide watch. I have to switch between NBC Sports, ESPN and Velocity to see real racing(not Nascar).

BTW, official full DTM qualifying/racing get posted on Youtube in HD the same day. That seems to be the way to go if a series wants to reach global audiences. Let's face it. If there was a market in this country for this type of racing we wouldn't be having this discussion.

I hope BTCC, DTM, and Aussie V8 Supercars end up on another channel.

You can occasionally catch some WRC on MAV TV.
