Is anyone else a little "Bothered" by Venezuela "Sponsorships"
*** Standing on Soap Box ***
I am just wondering if I am the only one bothered by the "Venezuela" sponsorships on cars, especially Porsche race cars.... I was a huge fan of Lizard, but now I could care less.
Socialism, Communism, Chavez are the only things that come to mind when I see "Venezuela" on my old favorite teams cars. I made a personal choice not to support them any longer, or their other co-sponsors on the car.
I know racing takes money, but who's money you take tells a different story.
Does anyone else feel the same?

How do you feel about "Made in China"?
How do you feel about the tremendous wealth (financial and natural resources) of the new Russia?
FWIW, neither bother me when it comes to auto racing.

Don't buy CITGO gas.
In New England, CITGO is the only company who donates very significant amounts of heating oil to Joe Kennedy's Citizen's Energy.

For that, I am able to look past auto racing sponsorships.

Yes, Joe & his wife make around a million per year on their nice little tax exempt operation. Nice gig. And I personally would walk a mile with a gas can before I bought gas at a Citgo station since Chavez took over the oil production in Venezuela. The big sign in Kenmore Square makes me ill.

There has always been a lot of "interesting" sponsors in racing...Read the stories on John Paul Jr. and Sr....back when IMSA stood for "International Marijuana Smuggling Association"

I went to their shop a few times when my father's company handled their glass work. They always had the best of everything, and no visible source of income.

If Google were an energy producer, I would buy from them exclusively.
Venezuelan sponsorship? No problem. There are so many bad characters out there, but Venezuela is not one of them.
How do you feel about Marlboro? Killing people daily and lying through their teeth to consumers and to congress while under oath.
Misplaced anger. Watch the pea.

Well said..makes my blood boil when these d-bags come to NYC (ie. the UN), we give them a podium to spew insults at us, we provide them security, they ruin my day with traffic, and it has to be on MY DIME ?! (taxes) ...

I used to be a DSS agent...we were the ones (along with USSS) who protected them when they were in the US, including at the UN. it was especially galling when one of the Iranian or ChiCom or North Korean...or Soviet...jackwagons would come, and we would still have to keep them alive & call them "sir". In our minds we spelled it "c-u-r" not "s-i-r"
