Default Mont Tremblant Video and Data

I made my first trip to Le Circuit Mont-Tremblant this week. What a great track. It's got elevation, fast corners, slow corners, compression corners, pretty much everything. It takes all your skills to be quick and has a great flow to it. I started out running a 2:05 and then with some work ran a lot of consistent 2:02. With some motivation, I ran a 2:00.844. I know there is at least another .5 second out there. I would be great to be able to run a 1:59.xxx.

Car is a well sorted 914 with a stock 3 liter in it. Tires are 245/50-15 Nitto NT-1 with 1 event on them.

What do you guys think?

Matt, you have nice hands. I imagine they would be soft and gentle as befits a 914 driver.

Why thank you. I don't think anyone has ever called my hands soft or gentle. Dirty, dry, callused are all normal.

not knowing the car, or the track, or much of antyhing else

from the brake pressure traces it looks like you could be a bit firmer on initial application (?) release looks good.

and I'd think you could put more load quicker into NT01s, especially in the slower corners. this is something I've really had to work on too, trusting the grip and putting more load into the tires quicker.

otherwise looks very nice, smooth and good inputs. no gloves? my hands would be a sweaty mess without gloves, but whatever works.

also, you didn't let that 7-GT3 by at the end of the lap did you?

We don't have anyone that runs a 914 in Rennsport so I have no idea on lap times. I used to constantly run a 2:02 in a stock C4 964 with Rs3's. After watching your lap, multiple times, here is what I see.
-a little early in turn 7
-less brake coming into 8
-brake less coming into bridge(compression will slow you enough) your exit of bridge is spot on!
-you are losing a little time in namrow

Nice track indeed !

Qualified there in 1:40 this spring

In general, I would say that you could use more the full width of the track to carry more speed in the turns. You have to start the turn-in in corner 1 from the little dip on the left side of the track and be more on the gas going down between corner 2 and 3. Use also more the track width at corner exits like in corner 6, 11 and 12 (bridge). Corner 10 and 11 can probably be taken with more momentum. Not familiar with a 914 but this is what I think from the video.

Hah! I'll look at our 1:32.8 this morning and then look at yours. My other client did a 1:27.4!

Very good advice! We had two Cups here today in the 1:40 range, IIRC.

I think I'm close on initial brake application, but we have some old tires that might need to be flat spotted.

I never really thought about building lat G quicker. I'll have to try that some.

You noticed the GT3 too? I felt bad....

Thanks! I think you're probably correct on all the above. I think 10 and 11 are probably fast than most people think - certainly more than I initially thought.

Thanks! I don't think we'll make it back up this year, so it will be sometime next year to work on this.

On 7, it felt a little early, but the data shows it was right in the middle. That is one of the times when I don't know if I should believe the data or my butt.

Where do you see the time in Namrow? What should I do different?
