Sato, cleverly disguised wearing a Mercedes driver's helmet.
Alonso's best hope is for Mercedes to continue to steal available points away from Vettel (or another Vettel DNF). His Ferrari looked awful last week and I'm not confident regarding upgrades after less than a week.

If it wasnt for the teams poor tyre mgmt decisions I would still have Kimi right in there so he gets my vote again.........get the gap down to Seb and have a great fight in the 2nd half.

Mercs are on a tear, good thing their private tire test didn't give them an even larger advantage. Brawn is eyeballin' the WCC trophy, Ferrari smells like ciabatta toast. lol
New bulletproof kevlar Pirellis will to be Merc and RBR's benefit, while hurting Lotus, Ferrari and Force India. Going to be a Mercedes and RBR weekend...pick and choose your driver order, but they'll be driving a Silver Cheater or an Infiniti.

Hamilton is going to be hard to beat tomorrow. Rosberg drove safe and lost out, he had the right car. Ferrari's on the mediums which may work out, but they'll need to hold off Force India and the mid teams on softs in the opening laps to make it work.

I'm going to make a case on why Alonso will win.
1. The Ferrari is only a 3/10th off the overall pace on soft tires to the Mercedes and RBR in Q2 vs. Q3. Compare this to Silverstone last weekend when the Ferrari's were 1.4 seconds a lap slower apples to apples and you can see that they are pleased with their pace.
2. Ferrari's strategy for going with the medium tire is brilliant given the soft tires have their golden lap early and then fall off. The F cars will be running at least twice as many laps in the first stint tomorrow and the primes are giving consistant lap times vs. the bell curve times of the soft tires.
3. The weather is calling for even higher temperatures tomorrow. Look for the 6 cars in front of the Ferraris to suffer even sooner tire degradation due to this heat and a full fuel load.
4. The Ferrari's really should have been P9 and P10 but the McLaren's didn't put in a time so that will help them get further up the grid.
5. Both Alonso and Massa put in very slow laps on their prime tires, bascially scrubbing them in with a 1:39 and 1:41 respectively. I think they are going to try and make them last 20-25 laps, go onto a second set of mediums tires and finally a soft set for a 2 stopper. Me thinks MBF1 is going to have to do a 3 stopper, possible RBR too, Lotus will probably shoot for a 2 stopper as well.

Unfortunately Pete, Massa mysteriously went off, looked like a gearbox failure or brain failure, nothing confirmed yet. The tires only lasted 12 laps on the first stint which in my view was the problem, had hey stayed out longer (to 20 laps) it would have been potentially a podium for Alonso.

Congrats to Vettel for winning his home GP. He drove well to keep the Lotus cars just outside of the DRS detection zone and still not destroy his tires. Very interesting strategy by Lotus though. Force Vettel to react to Grosjean, and then put Kimi on something different. It almost worked for them, almost.
Not sure what happened to Massa but it had to have been some sort of gear box failure. These guys are too talented with their driving to be just driving off the track and into retirement the way he did. But I was surprised to see Alonso pit as early as he did on that first stint. It cost him any chance at the win even though he was close to the podium.
