Oh man...This is very sad news. If it can't be preserved in some way, I like the idea of selling pieces of it.

Please no cell tower that looks like a tree in place of it.
im ok with a apple/pear tree so the corner workers have ammo for those that miss the flags.
also glad i went this year for the last pca race with the oak tree (oak tree trophies next year?)....anyone ever get any acorns from it?

I'll be driving around what's left of it this coming weekend. How sad. It was a beautiful iconic tree.
I don't know how long oaks take to grow, but it would be nice if they could replace it with another tree. The track could conceivably still be there in 50 or 100 years, so why not?

I saw somewhere on teh facebooks that the tree was 400 years old. hopefully they can figure out how to plant a mature tree in its place.

The arborist told Harvey and Connie in 1998 that it was terminal. They spent a ton to try and keep it up, but it was EOL...
