i bought a two owner v10 excursion with 75k on the clock 2-3 years ago to $9k. given that a diesel would run twice as much it seems to make sense - diesel fuel premium cost vs gas mileage.
i wouldn't want to DD it and i was told you don't want to leave a diesel sitting for long periods (?) w/o use.
towed the 575 out to barber no problem and that thing is a portly pig.

I've only seen one, ever on the road.
Several months back I bought a MB ML350 Bluetec. Love the MB diesels, 455 ft lbs torque. simply incredible when towing, smooth as silk, higher towing capacity than the YukonXL it replaced and a terrific DD. 20 city and 28 hwy MPG.
Here in Socal, diesel is about 10-15 cents CHEAPER than regular unleaded and about 30-45 cents cheaper than premium.

Like this one in Houston? Are they really that rare?

I'm looking at new and used options.

Thanks. Even if this doesn't ultimately become my primary tow vehicle down the line, it might make more sense for me to go with something like this right now and an open trailer. Rated towing capacity for the V10 is 7700 lbs., which is not bad.

From your original post stating your needs in a tow vehicle, I would just tell you it's not terribly roomy inside. My brother is 6'1" 250 and he scrunches up some to get in it. I would think that's just the class of vehicle it is in though. There is room behind the rear seat for a spare trlr tire, spare rotors, my DE box, centerlock tools, and a 28 qt cooler, but not a whole lot more.

You will not regret it. It has 553 ft/lbs of torque that will not let you down. From people in the treg forum who have had both, say the V10 and V6 get very close to the same fuel consumption when towing. The V10 is very smooth....

I have the 3.0 V6. For me it fit the niche of daily driver/tow vehicle perfectly. It's got plenty of power for an open trailex with a 911 on it. In fact, I think it's an impressive amount of power for a vehicle that can get 18 mpg when towing this setup.
