Here's a pretty good clip showing how skilled Rally drivers need to be:
It's 25 yrs old Norwegian Mads Östberg (who's not a big name by any stretch but would kick Block's *** left & right) coming to a gravel corner after a long asphalt straight where part of the turn is on asphalt, and part on gravel so grip level is much different.
This is rally so it's not like on a track where you go through the same turn, lap after lap and can leave the braking always very late etc.
Doesn't leave much "on the table" and imagine if he'd come just a little too hot or clip the corner just a little to tight, or loose... He'd plow right through the barn etc.

so....I ran in Targa Newfoundland for 4 years - 2 as navigator, 2 as driver.

If the big name rally guys are a 10, Mads is a 9, Ken Block is...say...an 8 or so....I'd say we were about a 0.05.
