Trailex, Featherlite or ??

Featherlite with Race Ramps works great for me, although I'm going to look into the Trailex tire rack. I tow with a BMW X5 4.8 fyi - not a big diesel pickup - and the Featherlite is fantastic.

I had featherlite with trailex tire rack. The trailex rack is much better than featherlite and can be custom made by trailex to fit featherlite perfectly, at basically no added cost.
I have lots of good detailed pics of my old trailer if any one wants to see.

I've used both and the trailex is nice since you don't have to take off the fender to get the car up. But a trailex with a full deck isn't much lighter than the featherlite. In the end, I found a local featherlite that was the right price and haven't looked back. At first, I would forget to remove the fender but after a few loads/unloads and it becomes second nature.
Also, I'm looking at adding a tire rack and front box to my featherlite similar to this one:

If anyone has any data about this trailer, please let me know.

The trailex ramps are hell on your back. The full flat floor would be great to have...

Trailex says their trailer with a full deck is 400 - 500 pounds lighter than Featherlite for their trailer of comparable length (e.g., 18'). Believable?

Definitely. Seriously, we have had trailex trailers blown across the paddock overnight when not chalked properly (If anyone knows heartland park, we had a trailex blow from the tech building all the way down to turn 4/5 which is a hell of a long way). No wind is going to budge a featherlite.

I have a 1997 7541 with full deck and Tire Rack and surge Brakes. It's been bullet proof and the surge brakes are very predictable and have only replaced the brakes once (Backing plates & shoes). It regularly cruses at 85+ with ease... It's the one thing in this crazy hobby that will sell in days' for 90% what you paid for it, it you find one used, like I did...

Thank you to those of you who have already commented. I've looked at many of the older threads on trailers and trailering. Trailex owners frequently comment on how light their trailers are. But the Featherlite crowd is very brand loyal and they tout how well their (heavier) trailers tow. Does the weight difference really matter?

Keep in mind too when comparing weights etc that the usable deck on the trailex is short relative to the overall length of the trailex compared to the featherlight.

just bought my first trailer (a 2003 20 foot Pace that sat in a hangar for a decade unused). I well and truly have no clue what I'm doing
trailered it back from Jacksonville to Gainesville, through a massive thunderstorm of course, without any disasters...
the big question I have: the tires on this thing are original (all the date codes are from 2003). however, the trailer never got used, and sat in a climate controlled hangar for the entire time (I trust this, as this thing is immaculate inside and out). The tires show no signs of wear, no signs of dry rot, and don't feel like they're flat spotted. so.....do I replace all the tires now or not?
any other trailer towing advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
