Good afternoon, my father and I have entered this year’s One Lap of America and wish to reach out and in Honor of the great man who made it all possible.

The founder of both the Cannonball Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash, and One Lap of America, Brock Yates, has Alzheimer's. This great man gave us an insight into the automotive world, through his many books, publications in "Car and Driver", and "Cannonball Express". He has a genuine passion for automobiles, and I can say that reading his books has made me into even more of a car enthusiast.

Sorry to hear that about Brock Yates. What a character! Grew up reading all his articles in various magazines. Got a picture with him when he came through Des Moines with the One Lap one summer many years ago...

Brock's columns and books are always amongst my very favorites, his writing style was very special and I regret that we see it no more.
