Is COTA nuts?
I just got off the phone with them about the 2013 F1 race. I wanted to come down in my motorhome and stay at the track. The very nice person that I talked to told me that they have full hookups along the main straight for $15,000.
$15,000!!! WTF? I asked if they had anything else, as I was expecting the cost to be about 1/10 that, but was told that's all there is. I ended with telling them that I did not want to participate in the event, just watch it.
$15,000. Can't get that out of my head. Guess that I might not be going afterall. Really wanted to stay at the track.

Larry,
They may have come down. A buddy inquired last year and got about what you got except you also had to buy 6 full tickets and maybe even something like that $1000 preferential purchasing thing. In the end he said it would have been more than he paid for the 996 he drives.

It sounds like this place is going to have to have the come to hesus moment when they realize everybody hates them before they wake up a recognize their customer service and customer relations management policies and skills need lots of work. Think Barber in the beginning. Everybody's chit stinks. Even COTA's.

from my experience there they a friendly and trying to do the right thing but just clueless as to how a track is supposed to operate. I think the real boneheaded decisions are coming from senior management/ownership.

Montreal is more fun. When I started going in the early 90s, there were scads of fantastic general admission viewing spots, you wouldn't want to buy a seat to sit in one place, but they've obscured many of those with advertising, but it's still a far better place to attend an F1 race.
I'm happy the US has a GP but I don't think this one will be any more permanent than Sebring, the Glen, Detroit, Las Vegas, Long Beach, Phoenix or Indy.....
Bernie needs to go, but as long as countries (country ? wtf it's a city) like Singapore will pay WHATEVER FOM wants.....
I'll go to New Jersey before I go to Texas.

Years ago when the traffic to Road America stretched to Plymouth for CART we watched as someone drove in with a 1-ton pulling a 40' cigarette style boat.
We were taking bets on how many people were "hidden" down below. I cannot remember who won.
