2012 (Speed): 314k live viewers, 204k on replay = 518k total viewers
2013 (NBCSN): 124k live viewers, 138k on replay = 262k total viewers
The move to NBC Sports Network did not go well in the US.

1. NBC Sports is not basic cable.
2. 9 in 10 non-hardcore F1 viewers will NOT get out their credit card to upgrade cable.
3. Race was on at a weird hour. Can't expect rebroadcast ratings to be high.
4. Vettell who? 9 in 9.9 Americans have no idea who he is.
5. Low ratings will continue to be a problem as long as its exclusively on a premium cable channel.
At some point F1 will get it into their skulls that the only way F1 is going to find a bigger audience in America is unless its on every week on a major network or at the very least ESPN. You would think they learned their lesson after putting it on SPEED.
I've never been someone to spend any money on cable and one year Speed required a digital box so I skipped it the whole year. And that's a 20+ year fan. Like most Americans, I wasn't about to take any extra steps or spend any extra money to watch races that have become stunningly boring relative to what they were in the days of Mansell/Senna/Prost/Piquet. And I only ended up getting F1 again because I wanted a DVR, so F1 was merely a side benefit.
