not to derail this thread, but I read on the PCA website that GTA2 is 997 GT3-based cars. What does this mean? That you start with a 997 GT3 and do whatever you want with it? Unlimited?

Pretty much. Mostly it's for modified Cup cars that no longer qualify for spec GTC class. You find a lot of ex-Rolex cars in the class.

No turbos, engine not over 4.0. Pretty much everything else is free but so far a good Grand Am GT3 cup car should be able to compete unless one of the RSR or Cup R guys really learns how to drive their super fast factory race car. Then we are all toast.

Ha, don't expect much. I have practically zero time in this car (took it to VIR in November, coolant line burst on basically my second run). Hopefully the weather will be okay on the 9th when it looks like we'll both be doing the unmuffled DE. You can take me to school in these C3 cars like you did in the C1. I'm hoping a run or two will be enough not to make a fool of myself come race weekend.

I will be surprised to see anything different then your usual. 6cups are the easiest car I've ever driven. You will be up to speed

They are easy to drive at 98%. But they take some odd driving techniques to really max them out, especially in tight turns. The 997 cup works better with smooth textbook driving, more like a proper race car. LRP has fast turns so textbook driving will work fine and you guys will have a great race. Good luck!

Is this little 1.5 mile track worth a 7 hour ride, 95 traffic, and dealing with all those NE snobs like Gary, Bela, Paolo, and Sean once I get there ?
