Yay or Nay on upgrading to 2-car hauler?
Now that my wife is fully addicted to the sport, we sometimes need to transport both a Boxster and an Atom to track events. Right now we have a very cool Aerovault which is good for one car. I tow with a 2010 Dodge 2500 Diesel mega cab short bed bumper pull with a standard bull dog hitch. I believe my trailer is about 22 feet in length. I have no problems currently towing it anywhere or parking it.
We usually have Speedsport transport the 'other' car for us. What I am thinking about is whether or not it makes sense to buy a 2-car enclosed trailer which would
1) Eliminate storage costs for one of the cars
2) Eliminate transport costs
3) Allow us to always bring two cars to the track
The downsides I see are
1) Learning to tow something that much bigger (parking etc)
2) Decreased mileage towing
3) Possibly altering routes taken
4) Storing the trailer. I could not keep something that big at my present house but I don't rule out moving in the next 1-2 years
So,....is it that much bigger a pain to go 2-car hauler?????
Are there any stackers that could be bumper pulled safely with a car like the Atom (1350 pounds) on the top shelf?

Talk to the Wood brothers who come to our events. I think their trailber is a fifth wheel, but it's a "half stacker." Maybe 30 feet, but the front of one car goes up in the air and goes over part of the other car. No idea if they made it or bought it that way.

You will be into fifth wheel territory. Your Dodge should be able to handle it. I would get with a trailer company in your area and see what they can do for you. The trailer will probably not be much longer than the one you are pulling. But there will be a learning curve on towing as the fifth wheel does not track the same.

Personal call but two car trailer will save you money in the long run. Look at gooseneck or f5th wheel. Parking not such a big deal, just make sure you car a few gas cans for your tow vehicle as you will want to head into truck stops instead of regular gas stations.
We run a 48 footer and its so nice to have everything there.

My mech is selling a nice aluminum two car setup:

If I had the room I'd have a two car trailer, lots of flexibility for race weekends.

I think any more than 32'-36' floor is a real pain to find stops for meals, fuel, etc.
I've had a 44' Pace gooseneck (4 small cars stacked) and a 32' (floor) Featherlite (two larger cars) on both a 3500 Silverado and F-350 Ford.
The Flite was a snap and pleasant to tow. The big, long stuff is a PITA.
260K miles on both...

Mileage wasn't that much different. The ride is sublime with a gooseneck. Much easier on the highway than bumper pull. Can be a PITA to get in and out of places. You just need to think ahead some.

The Atom is small but not that small! I like the way you think though!

And to think I started 'towing' with a tire trailer behind the Boxster.
