Default Jackie Stewart documentary by Roman Polanski

Netflix has acquired the rights to "Weekend of a Champion," a barely seen documentary shot by Roman Polanski in 1971 at Monaco.

This is a film that was shot while Polanski was at his peak, and it has never been released in the United States. It becomes the first in a 12-picture deal that Rat Documentary Films has with Netflix; the objective is to produce or acquire cool feature documentaries. I’ve seen footage and it is pretty compelling stuff.

“I wanted to make a film about a friend, and Jackie is an extraordinary figure in the world of Formula 1,” Polanski said in a statement.

“This film is a masterpiece. Roman and Jackie both do what they set out to accomplish, Jackie wins the Monte Carlo Grand Prix and Roman makes a great film that stands the test of time,” said Netflix. “The two legends reunite 40 years later and watch the film in the very same hotel room in Monte Carlo for what turns out to be a poignant and beautiful reunion.”

Just checked Netflix but don't see this available yet. The article doesn't mention if available now or not.

Great video clip--- useful for post-event follow-up with students regarding the benefits of smooth throttle-to-brake and brake-to-throttle transitions.

Obviously Polanski cared about technical aspects of driving as demonstrated by his referencing a well-known book.

I hope to see the entire video program some day.

For as many times as I've studied the word of The Flying Scot, I unconsciously tuned out whatever Polanski was yammering on about. Of course, a lot has changed in the last few decades, so even some of what Sire Jackie emphasizes is in the context of cars with single-acting dampers and linear springs, brutal engine power curves, and on/off aero with tire sidewalls and compounds that are perhaps the most radically changed technology since his sage words over a breakfast I'm guessing no modern day F1 driver would dare touch. Still, you could do a lot worse than to follow his words, chapter and verse. The full movie will be a banquet.

A 4+ minute video clip of race car driving and not one mention of a sponsor / manufacture / team name.

Just a great driver talking about driving. His passion for driving is overflowing, how refreshing, even more so today with all the sponsor commercial sound bite interviews that say nothing except how great everything is.
