Its cathartic to own the mistake and learn from it.
I grew up in Canada so consider myself a decent bad weather drover. But we've been so drought stricken in the SE the past few years that you don't get much practice. I think those Hoosier rain tires in the pic are 3 years old.
But given all the factors I was too aggressive- plain and simple.

You are truly enlightened & wise beyond your years,...
Its rare when people own their mistakes, however such things make them better for the experience and you'll be a better driver for it.
I'm VERY pleased that you are OK since cars are far easier to repair than people!
Glad you are ok, looked for you afterwards but you had already left. Since I did not qualify, nor have a car that was running well, I started behind you and hence have video if you want it.

+1
I have had 2 incidents, 1 was repairable and 1 was a total "E36M3" and both were my mistakes. It wasn't 1 mistake that caused them but several at the same time. I carry a bent tow hook on the center console in the truck as a reminder that if my head isn't in the game it can cost you $$$.
Did I mention in my last outing (Winterfest last month) 30 mins into the enduro on Friday a slower BMW took the DE line into T17 then decided to pit and cut from way outside to go pit in.
I took the racing flag station line and stayed mid track until he started to come over (and over and over). Eventually I ran out of room on the inside.
He hit me wheel to wheel just as we were straight, which was a good thing as it snapped the steering wheel, jamming my hands and actually coming off (the steering wheel- not my hands). I put it back on and continued around the track as I was past pit in.
This is a pic of them changing the wheel and pulling the fender out. I went back out and finished the race. After I was told he had suspension probs and was pitting but surely you hug the inside down the back straight and through T17. I was 4 secs faster in qual so he should have seen me coming down the back straight. My hands are still recovering and that was over month ago.
