Default Open Wheel - Race Schools

I have been taking part in DEs with my 996 GT3 since 2006, and am ready to dip a toe in the water with racing...

I really like open wheel cars, and am thinking about attending Skip Barber or Bondurant to get some seat time in a 3-day class, and eventually getting an SCCA license. Any recommendations? Have any of you guys attended any of these schools?

Lastly, I'd like to get into arrive & drive racing. I like the notion of showing up for a 3-4 day weekend and having at it. I work too hard during the week, and simply don't have the time for the road travel with trailer & prep...

Any recommendations?

Thanks guys.

I did ABRS. nice school. great cars (wings and slicks Formula Renault). great telemetry sessions. instruction assumes you're not a novice but otherwise a great school (if you've done DE's you'll be fine, but I wouldn't recommend it for beginners).

Out of those I'd go for Bertil Roos.

Bertil Roos.
Dennis Maachio runs an excellent program - owner and racer.
Go to VIR for your school - well worth it.

Thanks guys. I'm getting excited about getting on the track in a lightweight open-wheel car...

I haven't done any open wheel racing (too risky for me), but you may want to go with a school which also has an arrive & drive racing series associated with it. Not sure about the other options mentioned but Skip Barber does.

EDIT: I posted about racing MX-5s with Skip Barber here. Same things would refer to their open wheel formula cars.

If it was me and I had the time and money I'd go to all of them. It all about seat time.

Bertil Roos runs their cars at proper ride heights and uses 2 liter winged cars.
I liked them best, and plan to return.

Bertil Roos without a doubt. Dennis is a great character, a great driver and a great coach.
