No rules. You'll see everything from bread trucks to tour busses out there on a lap. It's a blast to drive a historic track like that though. Can't wait to get back this fall!

When I do eventually go there, I think I'd first learn the place on a sim, and then tour it somewhat more leisurely, not at 9/10's. What's the point of driving it blindly and wrecking? It's not even a DE.

Seems to be a world-wide phenomenon. My one brush with near-certain collision on track was with an S2000 that was too aggressive over a blind crest (similar to the corkscrew at Laguna Seca). I still can't believe it I didn't hit him!

I have driven it at speed in a fully armored Benz 6.9 sedan with 4 occupants, one of whom was the US Secretary of State and one of whom was German chancellor.

I did not hit any Armco.

Sounds like a PCA club race at Sebring

When I drove it I hired a 'guide' and avoided being in the wrong turn-in. Even then that corner is off camber (IIRC) and the car gets light!

The 'Ring, the real Euro Disney!

Here are some vintage mishaps, with the crash at 1:38 being a personal favorite:

@ 6:54 there is a funny one. Watch the stuff the comes out of the VW.

This video points out how much has changed in car safety since the 70s.

Yeah for sure. There's a wreck early in the video where a female passenger is thrown halfway out of the window and luckily the car tips back upright or she would've been crushed.

Golfs mixed with Mini, Motorcycles, trucks, and cup cars. All with little coaching, just a few helmets. My desire to drive the ring just dramatically decreased. I never thought I would say this but if our over abundance of lawyers has prevented this in the US then good. That couple getting out to work on their car like they were on a side street was the things bad legends are made of.

Traction Control is there for a reason. You're not that good and you should keep it on.

Ditto...Did 6 laps in 2011 spread over an entire morning, none of them were clean. Each had at least one incident.
