I just lost 1,000 lbs.
After 15 years time-trialing various P-cars that weighed 3,000 pounds dry, today I bought a friend's Spec911 that weighs 1,980 pounds wet.
I already feel liberated.
To top it off, when I got home my wife surprised me with a Cobra Suzuka Pro Kevlar for Valentine's Day.
yeah... today goes in the WIN column.

Good for you!
I got used to light (ish) cars early, and everything over 2500 pounds feels porky.
I feel that extra tire and suspension are never a match for less weight.

Not the car in your Signature. Any pics of the new one?

I took my 2008 BMW 335xi to Road Atlanta last year, all 3900 pounds of it. It was like trying to ride a pregnant sow through a slalom ski run.
My 911 weighs in at 2600 pounds and has 100 less horsies, but it's a lot more fun to drive on a track.

It's TJ's tangerine car. A longhood. Car #38. Older JWE-built 3.0 with carbs. GT diff. Mag-case 915. LOTS of trick little parts here and there. It's also coming with a shed-load of spares, 2 sets of wheels, a trailer and records going back to 1970. Lots of blood, sweat, love & money has been put into this car by people that I know personally... so it was too good to pass up despite the fact that it got "mounted" by a Miata once. :-0
As far as the min weight, yes you are both correct. The car has strategically placed ballast to get it north of the minimum. I just quoted the un-ballasted weight above.
I'll post pics once I get her cleaned up.
